Lorry and bus training across Bedfordshire with an approved local partner school, and practical tests at Leighton Buzzard, the county's only LGV centre.
Bedfordshire sits across the M1 between junctions 10 and 13, with the A1 running past Biggleswade and Sandy and the A6 and A421 crossing at Bedford. That mix of roads has drawn big distribution sites: Co-op opened a 661,000 sq ft regional distribution centre at Biggleswade in 2022, and Asda, Argos and Sainsbury's have distribution centres at Kempston. Leighton Buzzard (Stanbridge Road) is the only DVSA lorry and bus test centre in the county, about 6 miles by road from Dunstable, 13 from Luton and 22 from Bedford. You train one-to-one in a full-size vehicle with an approved partner school local to the area, so there is no trip to our Kent centre. The training centre, test centre, dates and full price are confirmed in writing before you pay anything.

With an approved partner school local to the area, one-to-one in a full-size vehicle, so you do not travel to our Kent centre. We confirm the training centre, test centre, dates and full price in writing before you pay anything, so you know exactly where you will be before you commit.
Leighton Buzzard (Stanbridge Road), just outside the town at Stanbridge, is the only DVSA lorry and bus test centre in the county. Bedford is the one exception on distance: Northampton LGV and Leighton Buzzard are both about 22 miles by road from the town, so your centre is confirmed in writing at booking.
No. The DVSA centres in Bedford and Luton do not test lorries or buses, and neither do Bletchley or Aylesbury nearby. Your Class 1, Class 2, C1 or bus practical is booked at a centre that tests large vehicles, and we confirm which one in writing at booking.
Central Bedfordshire Council offers free Category D bus licence training to Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton residents who hold a car licence, delivered by a separate provider. Central Bedfordshire and Bedford also share £1.5m of Skills Bootcamp funding for 2026/27 covering transport and logistics, though an HGV course is not confirmed. See our funding page.
Course prices are on our pricing page, and DVSA test fees are included. Before you pay anything we confirm the full all-in price in writing, along with your training centre, test centre and dates, whether you live in Luton, Bedford or a village off the A1.
