If you are learning to drive a lorry or bus in North London, the Lee Valley or east Hertfordshire, there is a good chance your test will be at DVSA's Enfield (Brancroft Way) centre in Brimsdown. Here is where it is, who uses it, what DVSA's latest figures show, and the one mix-up to avoid: Enfield also has a car test centre with a very similar postcode.
DVSA lists the centre as Enfield (Brancroft Way), at 33 Brancroft Way, Brimsdown, Enfield EN3 7NJ. It carries out lorry and bus tests. Go by the address on your DVSA booking confirmation rather than older directions you find online.
The London Borough of Enfield has access to the M25, the A406 North Circular and the A10, and the old Hertford Road (A1010) runs through it. It also has the second-largest stock of industrial space in London, with strategic industrial land in the Lee Valley and at Southbury, and Arriva London runs bus garages at Enfield and Edmonton.
Enfield has a second DVSA centre: Enfield (Innova Business Park), on Solar Way, EN3 7XY. It handles car, motorcycle and driving instructor tests, not lorries or buses. Both postcodes start EN3 7, so check that your booking says Brancroft Way before you set off.
The same goes for the other centres nearby. Tottenham, Wood Green, Chingford and Barnet are car test centres, and none of them tests lorries or buses.
The lorry and bus practical test has two parts. Part 3a is the off-road test: an S-shaped reverse into a bay, plus uncoupling and recoupling if your test includes a trailer, as Class 1 does. Part 3b is the on-road test: vehicle safety questions, then about an hour of driving, including around 10 minutes of independent driving. You pass part 3b with 12 or fewer driving faults and no serious or dangerous faults.
The GOV.UK listing carries a note that all 3a tests will remain at the Enfield centre (the note spells the road Bancroft Way). Part 3a can also be taken with an approved private test provider, so when your dates are confirmed we tell you in writing where each part will be.
There is no public lorry or bus test centre in Hertfordshire, so Enfield takes candidates from North London, the Lee Valley, and east and south Hertfordshire. From Watford, Harrow, Wembley and Edgware, Yeading in west London is nearer, and from Hendon the two centres are about the same distance. Measured from each town centre:
DVSA's 2025/26 figures show 1,992 lorry on-road tests at Enfield, with 1,180 passes: a pass rate of 59.2%. For comparison, DVSA's 2025/26 figures show 48.9% from 3,708 lorry tests at Yeading and 58.6% from 2,394 at Leighton Buzzard. DVSA's 2025/26 bus table does not publish the number of bus tests at Enfield, so we have not quoted a bus figure.
A centre's pass rate is useful background, not a forecast of your own result. Hours behind the wheel, one-to-one, on the kind of roads the test uses matter far more.
GOV.UK states that you cannot access this test centre if you use a wheelchair. If that affects you, tell us before anything is booked. The Leighton Buzzard (Stanbridge Road) centre's listing says DVSA will make arrangements there for candidates with a disability.
Missing documents mean a cancelled test and a lost fee, so lay these out the night before:
